Mar Sleeva College of Arts and Science

Mar Sleeva College of Arts and Science established in 2012 is an unaided College affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and approved by the Government of Kerala & AICTE. Owned and managed by the Corporate Educational Agency, Diocese of Idukki, the institution is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under 2(f) in 2023.The College secured the most prestigious State Level Excellence in Education Promotion Award Constituted by Deepika Newspaper in 2022.

The serene campus sprawling over 5 acres is located at Rajamudy, Murickassery, Idukki, surrounded by hills and foregrounded by  verities of flora and fauna offers an ideal ambience for teaching-learning and the holistic development of students. The institution is the manifestation of the vision of the Management to provide high quality education to aspiring students, particularly from the high ranges of the District with good percentage of the pupils belonging to farmers, labourers, tribal and other marginalized families.

The College offers 8 UG Programmes and 1 PG Programme with strength of 541 students, 43 teachers and 13 non-teaching staff.  In the assessment period, the college offered 48 Add-On Programmes. The college library is automated with OPAC access and the campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The well-qualified and committed faculty constantly updates their professional competence by attending FDPs, seminars, webinars, workshops etc. Students are also encouraged to use ICT in the process of learning. Nearly 40% of the students get at least one scholarship or the other.

Aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNAI principles, varied activities addressing environmental issues, gender sensitization, human values and community development are also undertaken by the College. The College received recognitions for its committed service to the society during the flood disasters of 2018 and 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemics. NSS Unit of Mar Sleeva College bagged best NSS Unit and Best NSS Programme Officer Awards from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala respectively in 2019 for enhancing the extension and outreach endeavours of the College.14 Cells and 12 Clubs functioning in the college, helps to create a generation of empowered men and women capable of forging ahead for creating a better future.
