B.Sc. Geology or Bachelor of Science in Geology is an undergraduate Geology course. Geology is a branch science that comprises the study of the solid Earth and the processes by which it is shaped and transformed. Geology provides primary evidence for plate tectonics, the history of life and evolution, and past climates. In modern times, Geology is commercially important for mineral and hydrocarbon exploration and for evaluating water resources; it is publicly important for the prediction and understanding of natural hazards, the remediation of environmental problems, and for providing insights into past climate changes; it plays an essential role in Geotechnical Engineering; and is a major academic discipline.
M. Sc. Geology or Master of Science in Geology is a postgraduate degree program. It is a two year program that deals with the scientific study of the workings and design of the earth and its layers. The basic eligibility for this course is a Bachelor's degree in science. This course deals with the detailed study of the various layers of the earth, the tectonic plates and the history of the evolution of the surface of the earth. The Curriculum of M.Sc. Geology develops a student with the necessary skills and practical knowledge which help them understand the different processes related to the earth, like the minerals, sedimentation, the climatic conditions affecting the evolution of life and aspects related to them. The major career options after this course are in the fields of environment, petroleum, mining and the oil industry.
